Blogmas Day 9: Stained Glass Window Biscuits Recipe

Many people have a special recipe that they like to whip out around Christmas, for me it's these Stained Glass Window Biscuits! They're pretty, taste nice and can be used to make some cute edible tree ornaments!

Here's how to make them...

Ingredients:
24 Fox's Glacier Fruits (Boiled Sweets)
300g of Plain Flour
100g  of Golden Syrup
175g of Butter
1 level teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon

Step 1: Sift the Flour and Cinnamon together in a large bowl.
Step 2: Cut up the butter into small cubes (approx. 12), rub this into the Flour and Cinnamon (you can use ground ginger if you're not a fan of Cinnamon!) with your fingertips until the mixture looks like bread crumbs.
Step 3: Add the Golden Syrup and mix together with a butter knife until big lumps form.
Step 4: Pick up the mixture and mould it into a dough. Wrap the dough in Clingfilm and leave to chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Step 5:Whilst the dough Chills sort the Boiled sweets into different colours and place them in separate freezer bags. Take a Rolling Pin or a Meat Tenderiser and bash the sweets to break them. Put these into separate bowls.

Step 6: Line 3 Trays with Baking Paper and Preheat the oven to 180C (160C with Fan) or Gas 4.
Step 7: Flour a clean surface and roll your dough out. It should be as thick as a £1 coin or around 7mm, any thinner and the shape will be distorted when lifting it off the surface!
Step 8: Use shaped cutters to cut out star and circle shapes. Take a smaller circular cutter (you can use shot glasses if you don't have any that small!) to cut out small circles in the middle of the shapes.
Step 9: Place the shapes on the baking trays, if you want to use them as decorations use a skewer or a straw to make a small hole in each.
Step 10: Fill the large holes with the crushed boiled sweets, so they are almost overflowing.
Step 11: Bake for 15 minutes or until the sweets have melted.
Step 12: Enjoy hanging them up on your tree or testing a few out!

These are great to wrap in cellophane with a bow and give away as presents or just to enjoy yourselves!

Thanks for Reading! :)

P.S Keep an eye out for a post on how I wrap them for presents in a care-package!
