Blogmas Day 13: H&M x Balmain Look Book Part 3...

I find it difficult to wear trousers (or pants) as part of any smart or party outfits. Partially because I am very petite and trousers tend to make me look even smaller and partially because I struggle to fit them into a smart look. However this outfit is one that includes trousers styled to integrate nicely into the overall smart and quite sparkly (thanks to the top and H&M x Balmain Clutch and Ring) outfit...

The trousers are somewhere between trouser and legging and the fact that they're quite hugging makes legs look slimmer and longer (similar here or here). The black trousers are perfect as you can style them with almost any colour. This specific top from Topshop was chosen because of the large quantity of silver embroidery which went nicely with the clutch. The blazer from H&M (similar here) I wore on top was also black to compliment the trousers. It also had grey cuffs which could be seen as subtly matching the silver theme.

It's quite easy to make an outfit smart by using a fancy top such as this and adding a few good accessories! This Clutch is a real conversation piece. The detail is incredible and it definitely adds an elegant and luxurious element to any outfit! The Signet Ring although Chunky is equally elegant due to the classic look and the reflecting facets. For earrings I picked something more than studs, but not too large as there was already some bold pieces in the outfit! Finally the shoes. If the trousers didn't make my legs look longer, these beauties from Asos definitely did thanks to the extra 4 inches of height they add. Although they are not the most comfy shoes to wear, the fact that they contain flecks of green and pink ensured they stood out from the predominantly silver and black look.

I hope these H&M x Balmain Look Books have given an insight into my party outfit taste and also perhaps given some inspiration!

Blogmas Day 8: H&M x Balmain Look Book Part 2...

When picking the outfits for this Look Book I had Christmas on mind, so It's only natural that I featured an outfit inspired by the most Christmassy Colour there is... RED!

The Red Clutch....

This outfit is one most could pull out of their wardrobe right now. A Black Skater Skirt; an essential. It's comfortable to wear yet looks classic and flattering on everyone. A Red top; I'm sure everyone has a red top of some description, be it a simple plain tee or a pretty blouse. Simply tucking a predominantly red top into a black skater skirt and throwing on a black cardi or jacket and a pair of Red heels (Black would work great too) can add a touch of festivity to your appearance!

The 'essentials' I chose make the outfit a bit too fancy for day wear, but still work nicely with the beautiful clutch from the collection. The Suede Red side went perfectly with the heels and top and the black leather side complimented the outfit too.

Blogmas Day 2: H&M Balmain Lookbook Part 1...

A few weeks ago I posted about the release of the H&M x Balmain collection (read it here). It's safe to say I was incredibly excited for the collection! However the release was a disappointment due to the website meltdown. I didn't manage to get any of the clothing items I'd wanted, but I did grab a few accessories and I've created 3 different looks to show how one could wear them over the Christmas Period.

The Green and Gold Signet Ring...

This ring is quite chunky but the gorgeous colour makes it a very classy and timeless piece. I teamed it with a similarly coloured crop top from H&M and a black body-con skirt for an easy party look. I threw on a black coat from New Look (similar here) to stave off the cold! To add a bit more colour and to match with the ring I also carried a gold bag also from H&M.

The green gives the whole outfit a splash of colour and the shade is very Christmassy!

What's your favourite colour to wear at Christmas?

Clubbing or Party Make-up...

So as promised in my last post, here's the look I wore to a bar and a club, which would be perfect for any upcoming parties or a night out for freshers week!

I started off with my eyes...

I put the shade Silk from the W7 in the buff palette all over the lid and then used a darker shade called Wave in the crease. After taking a few minutes to blend out Wave and rid myself of any harsh lines, I took the Soap and Glory Supercat eyeliner pen and lined my eyes with a thick cat eye flick. I finished off the eyes by curling my lashes and using two coats of the Elizabeth Arden Mascara in Black.

Unfortunately this is the only close
up of my make-up from the night!

Next I focused on my skin. I started by using the Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation in NC20 all over my face. I then mixed the foundation with the Mac concealer in NC35 and used this under my eyes to conceal the dark circles. Using some translucent powder I set everything in place. Next I put the bronzer from the  Naked flushed palette just underneath my barely existent cheekbones and then the MUA highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones to contour. To finish off I used the MUA lipstick in Shade 1, a deep dark red, to cover my lips...

Anyone else excited for all the freshers events?!
