Blogmas Day 22: Red Lip Make-Up...

Several posts ago I shared my Top 3 Christmas Red Lips (Read Here), so it only seemed right to share how to do a quick and easy Red Lip look!

For the Base I simply used my Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation in NC20 and concealed underneath my eyes with the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory. The concealer really brightens up the area and has great coverage.
For eyes I packed on a dark brown MUA eyeshadow in the Shade Delicious all over the lid. I then used a clean brush and smudged out the outer corners to ensure there are no harsh lines. Next I used the Revlon Colorstay black eyeliner which like the eyeshadow is matte. To finish off the eyes I curled my lashes and used the Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara.

Finally for the lips I used the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm Stain in Striking...

Blogmas Day 7: 5 Under £5 - One for the Make-Up Newbie...

Good Make-up Brushes are hard to find and good, affordable brushes are even rarer to stumble across!
However to my surprise I found a set of 4 brushes from Superdrug all for £5. The set includes a powder, blusher, eyeshadow and foundation brushes. They look sleek and the differing colours make for a pretty brush collection.

They're soft but firm and are comparable to the Real Techniques brushes. They apply their various mediums perfectly although I wish the eyeshadow brush was fluffier so could be used to smoke out shadows rather than just pack colour on the lid!

All in all this set is perfect for someone who needs to fill a few gaps in their collection or as a starter set for someone just starting out!

Blogmas Day 5: The Christmas Red Lip...

A Red Lip around Christmas is no unusual occurrence. But with so many shades and finishes it's difficult to pick one to wear! So to help I've picked and shared my top three Christmas Red Lips!

1. Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Hot Pepper 3:
This  True Red Matte Shade is versatile as it can be worn comfortably during the day as well as into the night. It lasts several hours on the lip and despite being matte is very comfortable and not drying at all. It's definitely a winner for easy application although you do have to wait a while for it to dry and become matte!

This darker red shade is perfect for parties! The colour makes teeth look whiter and brighter and is flattering to all skin tones. Although the sheen makes the colour look great on the lips and is very moisturising it means that it can wear off quite quickly. The lack of longevity means it's best not to use this for dinner parties or for long events where reapplication isn't possible. (See it on the lips here)

This Bright almost Coral-ey shade is a great day time colour. It adds a bright pop of colour without being too fancy. When applied it does tend to cling to dry patches as it is VERY matte however this can be avoided with either a lip scrub or using a lip balm and blotting before application.

What's your favourite Christmas Red Lip?

Milani Lipstick Review

I first heard of Milani about a year ago and I was instantly intrigued by such an affordable yet highly regarded make-up brand. Disappointingly I realised that they do not stock Milani in the UK. However I was a pleasant surprise to find that good old amazon sold some of their products!
It was a challenge trying to decide which items I wanted to try first, especially since I had never seen the products or swatched anything! However being a lipstick lover I decided to go for 3 very different lipsticks...

L-R 25 Naturally Chic, 17 Plumrose, 22 Chilled Brandy

The first one is a pinky nude shade called Naturally Chic (Buy Here). For the last year this has been my go to nude. It is a perfect nude for a yellowy or slightly darker skin tone as it doesn't wash you out yet looks very natural. The application is a easy and it doesn't feel sticky or cling to dry patches and the formula is quite moisturising. The colour payoff is great however as it is not matte I did find that it wore off slightly throughout the day!

The second lipstick; Plumrose is a bright fuchsia shade (Buy Here). It has the same consistency and colour pay off however it lasts longer on the lips than the previous shade. The colour is quite a bold one that can definitely be worn during the day as well as at night adding quite an eye-catching pop of colour to your make-up look!

The final shade is called Chilled Brandy (Buy Here) and unlike the other two lipsticks it is VERY glittery. This makes application less smooth and can be a bit drying. It's matte and also quite a dark shade making it quite a good nighttime/going out colour.

All three lipsticks are definitely worth buying (I purchased them for £3.51 each). In fact Naturally Chic and Plumrose tick all the boxes of a perfect lipstick and I would pay three times the price! All in all I'm impressed with the quality of these lipsticks and am looking forward to trying more Milani products!

Which Lipstick Shade is your favourite? Have you got any Milani recommendations?

Epic Eyeliners...

For me eyeliner is my favourite part of putting make-up on. I think a good winged liner can pull a whole make-up look together and completely transform a persons eyes. Over the years I have tried many an eyeliner, some I've loathed and some I've loved, so I thought I'd share my favourites...

1. Soap and Glory Supercat Liner: this is the best drugstore liquid pen liner I have tried. Unlike most pen liquid liners this one draws a completely opaque black line and it is extremely easy to use!

2. Barry M Gel Liner: Gel liner is definitely the most difficult type of eyeliner to use. However it does have some benefits, such as it's incredible ability to stay put! This eyeliner not only stays on all day and night but once it's on it doesn't smudge and requires a strong remover to get off.

3. Rimmel Special Eyes: This is perfect for smudging out to create the perfect smoky look or for tight lining and filling in your waterline. This is the most versatile eyeliner I have, and it's also the cheapest!

4. Rimmel GlamEyes: Liquid liners can be tricky to use, as the liquid is quite runny, but the thin brush applicator gives a very precise application, if you can be patient enough to apply it in little strokes.

5. LancĂ´me Artliner: I've saved the best (and most expensive) for last. This is my favourite eyeliner for 2 main reasons, the first being the application. It's sooo easy to apply this eyeliner because of the long and flexible applicator, you can create either thick or thin lines with complete ease. the second is the formula of the eyeliner itself. It' applies super opaque and requires only one swipe, which for me is essential in an eyeliner!

Clubbing or Party Make-up...

So as promised in my last post, here's the look I wore to a bar and a club, which would be perfect for any upcoming parties or a night out for freshers week!

I started off with my eyes...

I put the shade Silk from the W7 in the buff palette all over the lid and then used a darker shade called Wave in the crease. After taking a few minutes to blend out Wave and rid myself of any harsh lines, I took the Soap and Glory Supercat eyeliner pen and lined my eyes with a thick cat eye flick. I finished off the eyes by curling my lashes and using two coats of the Elizabeth Arden Mascara in Black.

Unfortunately this is the only close
up of my make-up from the night!

Next I focused on my skin. I started by using the Mac Studio Sculpt Foundation in NC20 all over my face. I then mixed the foundation with the Mac concealer in NC35 and used this under my eyes to conceal the dark circles. Using some translucent powder I set everything in place. Next I put the bronzer from the  Naked flushed palette just underneath my barely existent cheekbones and then the MUA highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones to contour. To finish off I used the MUA lipstick in Shade 1, a deep dark red, to cover my lips...

Anyone else excited for all the freshers events?!

Sale Picks...

As if Christmas didn't provide enough excitement and new things, there's Christmas Sales to look forward to! So here's a few of my favourite things I picked up this year at the sales...

From Next:

This picture shows 2 Jumpers which were both £10 each, the 1st is a simple White 'Cable Sweater' and the second is a grey jumper with a bejewelled collar.

Next are two sleeveless tops. Even though I bought these tops to wear with high waisted pencil skirt suits (for school), I think these could also be dressed down with jeans and a cardigan.

This item is probably my favourite but will be a love it or hate it item. It's an electric blue coat and was only £20! It's soooo warm and it'll be perfect to wear in the remaining months of winter.

The next item is a pair of loose trousers which were for only £7. These are extremely comfortable and will be perfect for casual wear in the summer. The necklace was £6 and is absolutely gorgeous and will jazz up a simple jumper or dress and I can't wait to wear it! I've wanted a new bag for school that's big enough to fit my large folders in as well as being able to zip up to ensure nothing falls out and this bag ticks all the boxes and was only £14!

The final thing from Next is a cushion with a cute quote on it. I love this cushion and I think it'll go nicely with this duvet set I got from my sister for Christmas (from Asda).

From New Look...
The first item is a black dress with a white crochet collar, which was £7! Finally a plaid shirt which was £11 and will be perfect to wear on a casual day.

From Boots...
The items I picked are from Soap & Glory. First the Kick Ass Blur and Brighten Crayon (Concealer) in Medium. Next is a repurchase, the Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Plum Jam. I have this Gloss Stick in Raplumzel and I love the colour pay off and shine it gives, so I had to pick up another one of these! I also got a Supercat Eyeliner which comes free with any S & G purchase over £12.

Thanks for reading! What's your favourite Sale Pick and where from? :) xx
