Blogmas Day 20: Christmas Outfit...

A Christmas outfit for me has to look smart but be comfortable enough to wear all day (and most of the night!). This can be a tricky combo to find so this year I planned ahead...

I chose this Dark Plum Coloured Lace Dress from H&M. The straight cut may not be the most flattering, but makes it comfy and ensures the skirt wont fly up with the wind!
The colour is a rich wintery purple colour and the lace pattern makes it look quite classic. It's the type of dress you can dress up or dress down. In this case I chose to dress it down...

I styled the dress with black chunky heeled boots, which work well with the dress thanks to the length and I softened them up by adding some frilly ankle socks. Because of the  silver detailing on the shoes I chose a chunky silver necklace which sat nicely with  the high neckline of the dress. To finish the look off I carried a small black bag with some tassels, to carry any small items around with me.

Thus outfit was easy to put together and is quite a laid back making it perfect for a Christmas with the family!

Blogmas Day 8: H&M x Balmain Look Book Part 2...

When picking the outfits for this Look Book I had Christmas on mind, so It's only natural that I featured an outfit inspired by the most Christmassy Colour there is... RED!

The Red Clutch....

This outfit is one most could pull out of their wardrobe right now. A Black Skater Skirt; an essential. It's comfortable to wear yet looks classic and flattering on everyone. A Red top; I'm sure everyone has a red top of some description, be it a simple plain tee or a pretty blouse. Simply tucking a predominantly red top into a black skater skirt and throwing on a black cardi or jacket and a pair of Red heels (Black would work great too) can add a touch of festivity to your appearance!

The 'essentials' I chose make the outfit a bit too fancy for day wear, but still work nicely with the beautiful clutch from the collection. The Suede Red side went perfectly with the heels and top and the black leather side complimented the outfit too.

Blogmas Day 2: H&M Balmain Lookbook Part 1...

A few weeks ago I posted about the release of the H&M x Balmain collection (read it here). It's safe to say I was incredibly excited for the collection! However the release was a disappointment due to the website meltdown. I didn't manage to get any of the clothing items I'd wanted, but I did grab a few accessories and I've created 3 different looks to show how one could wear them over the Christmas Period.

The Green and Gold Signet Ring...

This ring is quite chunky but the gorgeous colour makes it a very classy and timeless piece. I teamed it with a similarly coloured crop top from H&M and a black body-con skirt for an easy party look. I threw on a black coat from New Look (similar here) to stave off the cold! To add a bit more colour and to match with the ring I also carried a gold bag also from H&M.

The green gives the whole outfit a splash of colour and the shade is very Christmassy!

Winter is coming...

Although Winter doesn't actually begin until the 21st of December this year, as soon as bonfire night has passed I can't help thinking that winter has begun!
Maybe it's the events of bonfire night; wrapping up in coats and scarves to evade the chilly evening air, huddling round a warm beacon of light and heat, playing with sparklers with gloved hands that send the signal to my brain: WINTER IS HERE!

Regardless of why, the "winter feels" immediately alter my behaviour slightly, and make me reach for different things to wear and use, to suit the winter life a bit more...

Ankle Boots: For when you still want your tootsies to be warm as can be but would rather a touch more sophistication (and height!) than Uggs, pop on some thick socks and slip these on! - New Look

Trenchcoat: An elegant layer to make any outfit warmer and smarter. (Also great if you like pretending to be Misha Collins as Castiel :P) - H&M

Moisturiser: Winter has that unfortunate effect of drying things out, so a good moisturiser will help to relieve chapped lips and dry skin. - Lancome

Tumbler/Thermos: For those frosty mornings where just holding a warm beverage is a welcome treat. - Costa

Uggs: they're a love it or loathe it item for sure. I used to be a loather as I thought they looked chunky and were the opposite of winter elegance. However when I popped into Bicester Village and tried some on... bliss! They felt so warm and cosy that you forget any preconceived notions and HAVE to own some! - Ugg

Touch-screen gloves: In a world of constantly requiring phone usage, these are essential. This pair is one of the very few pairs I've managed to find that aren't too obvious in their function and look semi nice. - Jack Wills

Jumpers: Not much to say other than: they keep you warm and are great for layering! - Next

Lipstick: Nothing screams winter more than Dark Berry Shade or a Red lip to get you excited for Christmas! - Boots; Elizabeth Arden in 02 Red Door Red (Top LHS swatch), Maybelline Super Stay 14 hour lipstick in Always Plum (Top RHS swatch), Bourgeois Rouge Edition in 18 Violine Strass (Bottom RHS swatch)

Candles: Placing a burning candle or two around the house can brighten the place up and make your house smell divine! -  The Candle Factory, Herbal Lavender

What's the one thing that you can't live without when Winter comes around?

Sale Picks...

As if Christmas didn't provide enough excitement and new things, there's Christmas Sales to look forward to! So here's a few of my favourite things I picked up this year at the sales...

From Next:

This picture shows 2 Jumpers which were both £10 each, the 1st is a simple White 'Cable Sweater' and the second is a grey jumper with a bejewelled collar.

Next are two sleeveless tops. Even though I bought these tops to wear with high waisted pencil skirt suits (for school), I think these could also be dressed down with jeans and a cardigan.

This item is probably my favourite but will be a love it or hate it item. It's an electric blue coat and was only £20! It's soooo warm and it'll be perfect to wear in the remaining months of winter.

The next item is a pair of loose trousers which were for only £7. These are extremely comfortable and will be perfect for casual wear in the summer. The necklace was £6 and is absolutely gorgeous and will jazz up a simple jumper or dress and I can't wait to wear it! I've wanted a new bag for school that's big enough to fit my large folders in as well as being able to zip up to ensure nothing falls out and this bag ticks all the boxes and was only £14!

The final thing from Next is a cushion with a cute quote on it. I love this cushion and I think it'll go nicely with this duvet set I got from my sister for Christmas (from Asda).

From New Look...
The first item is a black dress with a white crochet collar, which was £7! Finally a plaid shirt which was £11 and will be perfect to wear on a casual day.

From Boots...
The items I picked are from Soap & Glory. First the Kick Ass Blur and Brighten Crayon (Concealer) in Medium. Next is a repurchase, the Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Plum Jam. I have this Gloss Stick in Raplumzel and I love the colour pay off and shine it gives, so I had to pick up another one of these! I also got a Supercat Eyeliner which comes free with any S & G purchase over £12.
